Jade has been dancing since the age of two with the Dance Elite family. She has competed and earned scholarships and awards across several disciplines including Acro, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Musical Theatre, Ballet, and Hip Hop. Jade participated in yearly dance exams through the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association (CDTA) achieving highest distinctions in jazz and ballet examinations. Jade is now a certified dance instructor as an Associate Member of CDTA and a Rhythm Works Integrative Dance (RWID) Instructor. She is also a Level 1 certified gymnastics coach through NCCP. In 2006, Jade traveled to Germany as part of the Canadian National Dance Team and took home a medal with a routine choreographed by Marnie Palmer-Lang. Jade has been teaching at Dance Elite since 2011 both recreational and competitive classes.
Jade continued her passion for dance throughout her University life as an extra-curricular to her studies in Kinesiology and Psychology. She was Captain of the Wilfrid Laurier Competitive Dance Team, which earned several cash scholarships at various University competitions; they were named the Champion Team at the Bust-A-Move University Dance Competition in both 2009 and 2010. Jade has also volunteered with various dance classes including Feel the Beat, a program run out of Wilfrid Laurier.
In 2013 Jade graduated with a Masters in Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto. Jade has additional training in the DIR®/Floortime Model, CO-OP approach, Principles of Safe Moving and Handling, child development, and Handwriting Without Tears. Jade has many years of experience working with children of all ages and abilities. Jade looks forward to sharing her passion and experience with many young dancers in the community and truly believes in the power of dance to connect with others!
